Dzikir Petang

Dzikir petang dimulai setelah Ashar dan masih sesuai setelah Maghrib. Lafalnya tidak sama dengan dzikir pagi: doa masuk waktu memakai amsayna, dan perlindungan malam memakai ta'awudz yang diriwayatkan di Sahih Muslim.

Kapan dibaca?

Setelah Ashar hingga masuknya malam. Bacaan sebelum tidur — Ayat Kursi saat berbaring, akhir Al-Baqarah, dan doa tidur — adalah amalan lain. Jangan mencampurnya menjadi satu daftar lalu menyebut semuanya dzikir petang.

  1. Entering the evening

    اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَمْسَيْنَا وَبِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا

    Allahumma bika amsayna wa bika asbahna

    O Allah, by You we enter the evening and by You we enter the morning, and to You is the return.

    Count: Once

    Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi, the evening wording.

    The morning dua ends with the resurrection. This one ends with the return.

  2. Ayat al-Kursi

    اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ

    Allahu la ilaha illa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyum

    Allah — there is no god except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer.

    Count: Once

  3. The three short surahs

    قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ · قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ · قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ

    Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Nas

    The surahs of sincerity and of seeking refuge, recited as protection for the night ahead.

    Count: Three times each

  4. Refuge in Allah's words

    أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

    A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq

    I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.

    Count: Three times

    Sahih Muslim. This is an evening protection, not a morning phrase.
